What it takes to Excel
1 Optimism
Belief in a better future, and that we can always do better.
2 Dare to Dream
Frequently ask – ‘what do I want?’ and never be afraid to dream bold.
3 Convert Dreams into goals
Goals are dreams with deadlines. Remember one day is not a day of the week.
4 Convert goals into action
Knowledge is only potential power – you have to take action, both swift and persistent action.
5 Discipline
Doing what you need to do, when you need to do it, even though you don’t want to do it.
6 Personal Responsibility
Taking ownership of your decisions, behaviours and how you choose to respond to situations
7 Pursue excellence relentlessly
Life is too short for mediocrity. As Aristotle said ‘excellence is not an act, but a habit.’
8 Flexibility
Know that doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result each time is a sign of madness.
9 Lifelong habit of personal growth
There is never an end point. Like everything in nature we are either growing or dying.
10 Quest for leadership
Leadership starts with taking the lead in your own life. How can you hope to influence or motivate others unless you know how to influence and motivate yourself.
11 Leave a legacy
Frequently ask ‘how can I serve more?’ Make the world a better place because you have been in it.
12 Focus on building relationships
All experiences are magnified when we have someone to share them with. We can achieve little in isolation and we will often do more for others than we will do for ourselves.
13 Make no excuses
At the highest level there are either results or excuses.
14 Enjoy the process
It is not just about achieving, it is about getting in the game in the first place and having fun along the way.
