Us - V - Them

A humourous look at the differences between staff and management!

When you take a long time to complete a task, you're slow.
When your manager takes a long time, he's thorough.

When you don't get something done, you're lazy.
When your boss doesn't get something done, he's too busy.

When you do it your own way, you don't do what you are told.

When someone else does your manager's work, she's delegating.

How an hour a day can change everything

Have you ever wondered why it is that you never have the time to work on that novel or seriously explore new career options? But you always have the time to do the daily chores. What is the antidote to putting things on the long finger? How can you act on what matters most and not be at the mercy of what matters least?

Read on to discover how you don't have to be productive all day everyday to achieve what you want to achieve.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

What needs to be done?

"Managers in the past knew how to tell, managers in the future will know how to ask."

At this time when belts are being tightened, what are the tough questions that managers need to ask, and why do so few managers ask them?

Welcome to the Oct. '08 edition of Next Steps

As we enter the last quarter of 2008, here is a question for you to consider - 'what is your top priority that you are committed to achieving over the next three months?'

People have often complimented me on my organisational skills and in the lead article 'How an hour a day can change everything' I share with you how I ensure I'm effective for at least part of every day.

If you are a manager make sure you read 'What needs to be done?' it raises some uncomfortable truths. For some light relief then cast your eye over 'Us - v - Them.'

Enjoy.
