Executive Coaching is a highly personalised form of training and learning. It involves individually assisting business professionals to develop existing skills and to learn new skills. Putting those skills into practice, applying the learning, is the concept at the heart of executive coaching, as only behavioural change leads to greater effectiveness, personal growth and improved results for you and your organisation.
Executive coaching is a ‘pit stop’ giving you an opportunity to ‘step out’ of your daily role and gain new insights and skills. Like all forms of coaching, you, the client, determine the agenda. I always endeavour to strike the optimum balance between skills transfer and pure indirective coaching, where precise questioning will assist you in reaching your own answers, insights and clarity.
Whilst the content of the coaching session is tailored to meet your precise needs, here are details of just some of the topics I frequently work on with 1-2-1 clients. A detailed pre-coaching questionnaire will assist you in getting focused on your outcomes.
- Presentation Skills – e.g. preparing for a specific presentation where we explore both content and delivery (usually a three-hour session.)
- Developing Communication Skills (and Emotional Intelligence)

Just like an athletic coaching session, executive coaching is a ‘work-out’ designed to strengthen you by both challenging and supporting you to achieve your desired outcomes.

A useful bi-product of executive coaching is that you can take the frameworks, lines of questioning etc. back to your team. Not only will this enhance your own learning, but it will also enable you to develop your own coaching skills which are an integral part of any leadership role.
The duration and frequency of the coaching sessions are dependent on your requirements. Sometimes I will work with a client over a number of sessions, each session exploring a different theme. On many occasions a client will get what they need from a single session.
Most sessions are two-hours in duration, though sometimes I will recommend a half-day session depending on the issue or issues the client wishes to explore.
