SOAR 2018 – A memorable evening

On the evening of Thursday January 18th, 120 of us gathered in The Westbury Hotel in Dublin for my annual flagship workshop, SOAR2018. It is always a memorable night, but after my illness last year and the fact that we sold out (bigger venue in 2019!) this year it was extra special.

Get a flavour of the evening and hear what some attendees had to say in this short highlights video.

It’s during the SOAR workshop each year that I share my latest material, and my most cutting-edge insights and distinctions when it comes to results-focus, well-being, alignment and self-motivation. I also share what I call ‘powerful questions’ that help the participants connect with their own wisdom and to provide focus and clarity for the year ahead. Here’s a selection of some of the ‘powerful questions’ shared from the top of the room.

Attendees at SOAR2018

  • What’s worth celebrating and savouring in my life right now? (Without appreciation nothing appreciates!)
  • Where have I compromised too much?
  • What do I simply need to stop doing?
  • What am I resisting?
  • What would stretch me in reaching for my potential this year?
  • I would love to give myself permission to……..
  • If my courage trumped my fear I would?
  • What one thing would be a game-changer for me in 2018?

I also shared some of my newly discovered favourite quotes. Again, here’s just a few.

“Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.” Pema Chodron

I was delighted that world record holder endurance athlete Dr. Sinead Kane was able to join us on the night as well as Kapil Khanna from the All-Ireland Business Summit. Picture here with Eamonn Smith.

“To thrive you need three things in life – a wishbone, a backbone and a funny bone.” Reba McEntire

“Your work is an avenue for bringing more love into the world” James Sweetman (yes, I’ve a few of my own!)

“The world is changed by your example, not your opinion.” Paulo Coelho

“First you have to find who you are, then you have to be it like mad.” Quentin Crisp

“If you are not exercising your creativity you will never be happy.” Jo Malone

“The stories that we own, we get to write the ending. The stories we don’t own, own us.” Brené Brown

In the days following SOAR I received some lovely emails and testimonials from attendees which are always such gifts. Here’s just a sample –

‘Personally for me it was – touching, impactful, thought provoking, assuring, inspiring, grounding, warm, fun. There really isn’t a word that sums all that up – except maybe awesome!’ – Dan H

‘Another superb workshop, very uplifting and useful and in the most perfect of environments and at the right time of the year! James’s authenticity and sense of fun made it all the more real and enjoyable.’ Daire C.

‘What a wonderful evening, truly amazing. As always it touched hidden depths.’ Paul F

‘Wow what a night. It was absolutely brilliant.’ Eileen H.

‘The best “goal setting” talk/event I have ever attended.’ Eoin O.

‘From the moment I arrived I knew that I was in the right place at the right time of my life.’ Elva R.

Roll on 2019!
